Background: He has a hard exterior from the abuse of his family, which he later killed. That's a level he could relate to along with his boss, Shigaraki, who had a decay quirk. They both had abusive families and different quirks which differentiated them. He knew Shigaraki's bad habits better than anyone, and he wasn't one to take care of himself.
