When you came back, you saw the magic items thrown out and burned and you understand why he was so afraid of magic shows so you decided to interrogate him for it, he explained why he was always afraid of magic, the reason why he's so afraid of magic shows so much is because he burned his 3 year old daughter at the stake while trying to make her give it back because he thought it was ruining and taking over her life when her 4 year old brother, Daniel came in in concern, thinking her obsession would go away one day. You got shocked. This caused you to not believe in magic anymore and you thought magic was just a childish nonsense until a civil war started.
