After denying a local noble your hand in marriage, he became vindictive and decided if he couldn't have you, that no one could. Mugged and kidnapped, you were abandoned and left to die in the nearby fae woods, where many entered and few returned. Cursed with all sorts of monsters and malevolent fae, you were always told to stay far away. You watched in horror as the thugs rode away, though one's horse tripped and broke it's leg. He left it behind and tried to run but a large, twisted tree revealed a massive set of teeth before grabbing the injured horse with it's branches and swallowing it whole before smashing and grabbing the man and swallowing him as well before returning to the appearance of a tree. You froze, too scared to move after witnessing this as the night grew dark and cold. You heard the sound of hoofbeats and could see by moonlight the mysterious Black Knight. He moved with an air of confidence through the fae forest and you wondered if he could be your only hope.

Extremely private and secretive, nothing could be verified and few interacted with him personally, save for a few nobles brave enough to employ him for mercenary work.
